Every end of year I take a second to sort through my posts and pick highlight moments that happened with my blog. I love sharing what happened each month because it reminds me of why I do this, why I started. As I was picking these posts I had to remind myself “girl, you don’t remember when this happened?! At the start of last year I did a year in review, you can see that post here, and it was so good to look back at everything I had accomplished in 2016. That seems like so long ago, doesn’t it? Plus, when you go back to look at 2016 you will see my hair go from dark brown to platinum blonde to gray!
January was a great month, I was recently engaged and excited to have a whooooole year to plan my little wedding. Fast forward now and I’m like “oh man, we’ve had way too long to think about every little detail…can I just say “I do” right outside my house?! Thank God for my mom! She’s a good planner LOL. January was also the month I realized I love metals.
Ah, February was a MONTH. This was the time in my blogging journey where I decided I couldn’t be a loner anymore. I got in contact with a couple of bloggers from Orlando and I remember Amanda telling me about Create and Cultivate. The day of that summit I was SO scared driving for about an hour and a half to a place full of other creatives who I feared would be like “…and YOU are…?” I almost turned around like three times and went home. Im glad I didn’t because that day I met Shay (she took that first photo) I met Mackensey, I met Kahlea, I said hi (in a nervous voice) to Jomy, I also stood up and asked a question to the panel without noticing everyone starring. I felt good about being in a crowd. Plus, Nick and Anthony showed up towards the end which really helped because well…duh.
Girlllll, March was a busy month! I had four collaborations and launched a lookbook. I turned 23, which I spent in Orlando. That weekend my best friend picked such a good breakfast place for all of us to go to, I was living my best life. If I remember the name I’ll share on instagram or something haha. I just remember it’s in winter park? Orlando peeps – comment below those good breakfast places, I’m sure you know.
April was the month of “BTS”. The guys had recently bought some new gear and we were all about making behind the scene videos. Check out the Easter look here and the pants look (handmade by Alejandra Duenas) here.
In may I had two collaborations: both accessories aka my first love! With Ettika and Charming Charming Charlie. I also launched a tab on my site where I would openly share my faith. I should keep posting on there, huh?!
This month I shared what my most asked about tattoo meant, I even incorporated other people who have the same tattoo! Here is the post, READ MORE.
I also did this super cool post sharing how to wear an open ended scarf as a top for two different looks. THAT was so fun! See that post here: Scarf Styling!
Oh, my first facial. I partnered up with AVEDA to share my experience getting a facial at one of their stores: full post here. I also felt the need to share what I thought, from my experience, you needed to know in order to start blogging. I did this right after another post, which was going around the community, talking about bloggers getting paid. Do you remember that one?! It’s here if you need a refresh: Should Bloggers Get Paid?
In August I traveled and got paid. Oh how fun! I went back home and just tried to do everything a matter of a week and a half. I did a recap of this trip here. This was also the last time I saw my family. I also remember this month as the month ‘someone listened’ after that blog post I shared talking about bloggers needing to get paid for all the work we put in. This month was my first sponsored blog post; and I was so proud.
Your girl landed another sponsored collaboration and decided that she wanted two wedding bands. After incorporating these dainty rings with my ring I fell in love. Remember on IG story that I asked if you guys wanted to help me decide between my options when it was time to pick wedding bands?! We’re getting close!!!!
During October I had a little falling out. I didn’t know If I wanted to continue having this specific platform. I kept going back and forth wondering ‘are people even listening!?’ ‘do they even read my posts?’ I remember having a heart to hear with one blogger who one day was a stranger and now is basically family, Gabby.
Gabby @shewearscolor is SUCH a hardworking soul and we always start talking about our dreams and visions with our blogs. This day in Orlando, in a food court, she helpe to remind me that blogging is powerful. This is my voice and a place for you to escape. I’m keeping this platform for as long as I can! In the post I shared that month I talked about why I loved styling so much, why I started my blog to help other women be brave and courageous through their wardrobe. See that post here: Why I Love Styling.
November was fun, busy, and I had two more blog collaborations. In November I was like ‘what the, I’m not quitting my blog!’ LOL. I freaking love doing this, I want to create content. YES. I also said out loud that I wanted to be a stylist. Set stylist, personal stylist, show cast styling, print stylist? I’ll do it all because I can’t decide which route to dive into.
Here we are with a few days left to this year and I’ve looked back at some awesome moments The Models Market and I have gone through together. I can’t wait for 2018. It’s going to be different. I’m going to succeed but I’m also going to fail. The difference is that in 2018, I’m getting back up every single time I fail, and continue pushing forward. In 2017 I finally got my associates degree in the mail, and at the same time decided that I could and would NOT be in debt continuing my BA. I had shared before that I was pursuing my BA for Visual Merchandising and Management, which I’ll always love but decided to let go. I won’t get into how I feel about the education system in this post but I just knew that college was not for me. That may be a shock or maybe it’s you too and that’s ok. 2018 is the year to strive with excellence in all the small goals and dreams I have. I’m going to kill 2018, are you?!
