Hello again! If you remember that one time I did a thrift haul session on my Instagram story then you should remember this shirt. Yes? No? Does it look different? There’s 3 pieces to this look you’ve seen me wear over and over but there is also 3 new pieces you’ve never seen me wear!
* Reappearing – earrings, necklace, and belt
* New – top, bottoms, shoes
Side note: you know I’m always wearing a pair of sunnies so I don’t even count those haha. Also shout out to my girl Gen (check out her IG here – she’s amazing!)for coming to the rescue when I had to clean these shoes for this post. LOL YOU DA BEST GIRL.
If you were here for my last post then you saw that I wore a skirt as a top and though I am not wearing any skirts as tops in this look (lol) the same concept of styling older pieces for a new look is true in this case also. It may seem sort of weird that I’m saying ‘create a new look with an old piece’ because obviously we wear clothes more than once! (If you don’t, then girl you got lots of clothes) But what I’m trying to get at is that sometimes we get in this circle of wearing our old pieces in old ways, always styled the same, and always with the same colors. DO NOT GET ME WRONG there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing that BUT sometimes something as little as switching up the pants you wear with that one top can really make all the difference in your appearance and stylefidence (style confidence).
The top I’m wearing was originally intended for business chic office wear, I mean, its from loft so I’m assuming and that was my first impression! But how ‘expected’ would this look had been if I styled this shirt all the way buttoned with the collar perfectly folded and some cigarettes pants? Sounds cute but I would’ve felt trapped in a box styling it that way for my personality that day. Now, there is nothing wrong with that outfit because I will probably wear it that way some day and you know what the best part about that is? That for that day…the top will be brand new again, because no one has seen me style it that way. Not even me…yet! Lol
I want to encourage you to think outside the box! You don’t need to have a million tops or bottoms or skirts to be fashionable! That may sound crazy coming from a ‘fashion’ blogger but honestly, don’t limit yourself to the different outfit combinations you can create with one piece. How about this challenge: tell me in the comments how you would style this shirt I’m wearing. Really! Give me YOUR outfit combination. I’d love to 1) try it out for myself 2) inspire you to do the same because I’m sure you have your own button down too! If you don’t have any button down tops then here girl, get to shopping:
