Hey guys! After all the blisters I got from Swim Week in Miami this past weekend I think it is the perfect time to talk about facials. So, facials and a foot massage anyone? This was my first time attending Miami Swim Week and I’ve got to say…HOW DO PEOPLE DO THIS?! LOL Next year Nick and I already said ‘we are just staying in Miami for the week vs driving back and forth’. I also already decided I’ll be wearing tons of sneakers, platforms, flatforms, comfy slides, trendy sandals. Basically anything but heels LOL. What was your weekend like? Did you go to swim week?
*A quick interruption and shout out to Kellie for setting this up and Mike for the amazing facial, that was my very first facial ever! Thank you again!*
Okay, enough with my weekend recap, let’s get to the good stuff. As soon as I got to the store the amazing aroma hit me so hard that I walked in smiling and breathing in some amazing scents; it was pretty great. I met the guys and they were so sweet, I even got tea…you guys know I love tea! We go into some history about Aveda and I had no idea their holistic approach was so present with their brand. Being that I have slowly stopped using mostly all of my skin care products due to all the chemicals and weird stuff that I can’t pronounce (let alone truly know what they do/are); I was really in line with Aveda’s mission. Which is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways we give back to our society. I see that Aveda also strives to be an example for environmental leadership, which is something I really want to be more proactive on; well we should all be!
I just got deep there, huh? Speaking of deep Brent prepped me with a neck and shoulder massage and I won’t forget that he said ‘oh you’re really tense’. I was laughing inside because I wanted to scream I KNOW! I’ve gotten one back massage ever (with my mom on my birthday) and I relive that day in my head quite frequently because it was amazing. This neck and shoulder massage was also incredible and it helped to relax me during my time there. After we did that Mike gave me a consultation so we talked about my skin and we also looked at my scalped. I explained to him that I thought my scalp was pretty good but then he went ahead and used a magical device that showed some really dry patches and flakes on my scalp. Gross right? It turns out they have a brush and some scalp treatments you can use to help with that. I was most excited about the brush, to be honest, it helps to exfoliate the scalp WHICH really means a really amazing head scratch. Ask anybody close to me, your girl is always looking for a head scratch. Well, here just check it out for yourself below:
Mike then pulled out some really amazing goodies to use on my face. A dry exfoliating brush, a foaming cleanser to get a really good deep clean, acne relief pads, a toning mist, a clay mask, firming and brightening serums, and a hydrating lotion. I was a little overwhelmed with all the products at first, but I’m really glad he took the time to explain why he was using each product for my skin. Check out these photos during my facial:
I’m really happy I got to do this and share it with you guys because I’ve been more and more open about the battle with my skin. On my way there I was telling Nick I felt so vulnerable just walking in there with my bare skin with all my imperfections for the world to see. You can relate right? AND I wore my hair in a bun! I was so exposed haha. It’s been a journey but I’m glad to know there are so many options to getting a healthier skin complexion. That was my first facial and with the way my skin felt (and looked) I really hope it’s not my last! What’s amazing is that Aveda is doing 20 minutes free facials in the store. Be brave and take your beautiful face to your nearest Aveda store. You really wont regret it!
Here are the rest of the products that were used, I’m currently using the foam wash and the hydrating lotion! You can click on each one to learn more:
