Why There’s Been NO Gift Guide + Last Minute Holiday Look

It’s T-minus 4 Days until Christmas and to be honest, I’m still shopping. You too, right?!

Every year bloggers and influencers put out their infamous gift guides and this year, I didn’t. WHAT. Let me tell you why. The main reason is simply because I’m still shopping so who am I to give out ideas? Ha! Just kidding, but really though. I had a hard time picking out gifts for people that are close to me that creating a gift guide gave me anxiety this year.

Is that a non-blogger thing to say? I could’ve technically just linked a whole bunch of really nice items and say they were all thought out and that I recommended them 100%. You know, just did it for the blog but what good does that do? I want anything I ever link or share to be something I do actually recommend. During this month I probably got so many emails from different gift guides but I just felt as if they were hollow gifts.

I will say, there was one particular gift guide that made me buy something for my mom and I know she’s going to love it. (Sorry mom, I know you’re reading this so I will not spoil it!)

Besides not having a clue what to get my loved ones this year I didn’t want to create a gift guide just to accumulate commission here and there. As I try to make my blog a full time occupation, creating a gift guide would’ve been the perfect holiday pay day check-mate! Again, I just didn’t feel right recommending a bunch of hollow gift ideas in hopes to create sales. You guys feel me right?

Now, I will say, next year Christmas time I’ll probably come out with an awesome gift guide because I’ll most likely share everything I want (and will want) as a newlywed wife! All of you couples out there; get ready!

Besides the gift shopping and cooking and planning I wanted to share a last minute holiday look. You guys KNOW I love a challenge when it comes to styling and picking out looks. So, this holiday glam look was pretty much the opposite and I’m okay with it. I figured with trying to prep everything the last thing we want to do is figure out a whole ensemble to put together for Christmas celebrations. Whether it’s dinner, church,  or a get together at a friends house this look is pretty much far from boring.

Here is the formula
1. Matching separates
2. One layering piece
3. Statement Shoes

Just three things to make your outfit look and feel as if you’ve been planning it all year!

For ingredient number one, I was so pumped to bring out this set by @LolaChiq boutique because I mean…stunning! The pants are a culotte style, which if you know me, then you know. The top has amazing flared sleeves and the color is just perfect for this time of year. I will say, I would wear the top with higher waist bttoms OR the pants with a different top for church. For me, the set together shows a little too much tummy, but do you girl!

My second ingredient (lol do you like how I’m really making this a recipe?) is the layering piece. Everyone knows I never go out without layering something. Whatever I’m wearing has got to have something to it! If you saw on my story that I recently visited @threads then you must’ve been wondering what I got. Ta-dah! I’m sooooo obsessed with this waterfall fringe shag jacket. I want to wear it everyday but I kept telling myself that I would debut it Christmas Day. Don’t be surprised if I come on insta-story Christmas Day rocking this jacket over my pajamas. WOW outfit for Christmas Day: pj’s + fur jacket = GOALS. Check this one I just found for under $30! In Blush AND GREY. AH!

The last and final thing I’d add for a Christmas outfit ensemble is a statement shoe! For the holidays a metallic shoe is always a yes. I could’ve easily went for a nude heel but I didn’t. Want to know why?

1. I don’t own any. I know. Crazy. But it’s okay, give me time I’m searching for the perfect pair. (If you have any recommendations leave them below.)
2. This gold heel has been my go-to heel for anything this season so it felt right to give this look a pop of metallic to go with my dainty gold accessories.

Phew! After that you really should be the most glam person at any celebrations. Even though I won’t blame you if you go with the pj’s + fur jacket idea. I’m telling you, watch out for me 12/25.

Always love your posts, Kat! You’re so authentic in everything you do and it’s so inspiring! I love this outfit (as always) and I love your reasoning for not doing a gift guide. I chose to not do one as well for a few different reasons and a few were similar to yours, but one of them was definitely that I just didn’t have anything to really recommend as gifts! Anyway, really loving the culottes (I’m a huge fan of this trend lately as well) and can’t wait to see your upcoming content! You’re killing it!!
