Hello September! How are you doing? It’s day 05 and it’s already been an eventful five days. Nick turned 25, we just celebrated Labor Day, and the Caribbean is getting hit with a hurricane (praying for my family). As of today, me along with (some) south Floridians are officially are also prepping for hurricane Irma (WOOT WOOT).
The best part about realizing it’s September? Obviously I’m not talking about hurricane season but I am talking about the fact that fall is right upon us. When the season changes that means we have new decor ideas, new Pinterest mood boards, new fashion trends, and lots of pumpkin spice lattes. Honestly, I’ve never been a PSL kind of gal but maybe this season I’ll venture out and see what the whole deal is! Are you drinking one right now? Be honest!
Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year and I think it’s because I’ve never truly had a fall season before. I guess because it goes like this: You want what you can’t have! Haha
When it gets colder my accessories tend to change drastically. Over the summer I’m all about statement earrings, big necklaces, and stacking bracelets. When it comes to dainty pieces I think about fall. Under my scarves, leather jackets, and slouchy sweaters I usually opt for dainty pieces to help elevate my casual looks.
I’ve paired up with V&V jewels to share with you guys how wear dainty pieces and use them to elevate your casual looks. If you know me then you must know I really struggle with causal (I’m getting better lol) attire. Using these pieces helped me so much because I wanted to keep my look as simple as possible without looking like I just rolled out of bed. Anyone feel me on that?
#1 play with lengths + metals
This is a really good starting point because if you take this necklace here and also this one you can create simple chic layered look by just adjusting the lengths so one sits higher or lower. Also, notice that both of these necklaces are in the same ‘theme’ or style. By using different metals like silver, then rose gold, and even adding gunmetal you take it a step further.
#2 remember shapes
Don’t be afraid to mix in shapes. For the base of my look I went for something that went horizontal (this rose gold choker) then I used a shape to stand out in the middle (this gunmetal moon necklace) and for my anchor piece (or the one that holds it all together) I opted for a long vertical line. This one helps to elongate my set of necklaces making it more effortless yet thought out.
#3 think outside of the box
This one is my favorite tip and the most ‘me’. You’ll see why in a second. Everyone knows I’m a fan of wearing anything in every other way except the way it’s meant to be. So, on my ears you see one pair of earrings shown in two ways. These gorgeous ear cuffs are actually so versatile that they quickly became my favorite piece in the bunch. They’re meant to go up your ear, as seen in this photo, but because they have that curved shape you can wear them hanging down to create a completely new look. Now, here is the trick for achieving this.
Since the left ear cuff is curved to go up your left ear; that is the one to wear on your right ear. This way it curves in towards your right ear. The same thing goes the right ear cuff. Since it is curved to go up your right ear; wear it in on your left ear so that is curves into your left ear. Does that make sense? Just look back at the two photos above and it should make sense, ha!!
Using these small simple tips will really help to elevate your casual looks for this upcoming season. The best part? You can dress any of these pieces up during holiday parties! This bracelet is pretty perfect to dress up for any special occasion and these rings have been my favorite to mix with my engagement ring! The X ring is super chic and you can get it in other finishes.
All of the pieces were sent by V&V Jewels but these tips and opinions are all my own. Thank you to V&V for partnering up with me and providing me with a coupon code for 10% off. You guys can use ‘MARKET’ at checkout! If you do, let me know how you plan to layer this upcoming season.
