What to Wear this Summer…Styling ‘Sale’ Pieces from H&M

Hello my dear friends! Is anyone else thinking that this long weekend should’ve been waaay longer? Hmm…not just me? Memorial Day is a day we set apart to remember those who have served our country and I can personally say THANK YOU to many family members and close friends who sacrifice their life to keep us safe. I hope you guys had an amazing weekend with your loved ones and totally ignored all those retail e-mails telling you about the latest sale! (or not) How many of those e-mails did you actually consider? because I considered about three (haha). I was strong and didn’t give in (mainly because my wallet was saying otherwise) but I did get this $5 skirt from H&M about two weeks ago and I wanted to talk about it. Let’s talk about it.

H&M is one of my favorite stores. I really preesh all of the different styles they carry! (preesh = “appreciate” according to the show Master of None. Mike/Cat/Nick if you are reading, this one was for you! Lol). I can always find something there (not sponsored lol) that I know will flow with any vibe I’m going with. Girly, Chic, Edgy, Street Style, Feminine, TomBoy-ish…you get it! For this look my vibe was: “how do we make this fall midi skirt appropriate for summer”. I figured styling with red and white made it pretty appropriate for the holiday hence making it totes summer approved! I think checking the sale section anywhere for pieces that will work for the upcoming season is GENIUS and so smart. For example: you see a light weight navy button down that was from the fall season…BUY it because now for summer you can roll the sleeves, tie it up and wear it with shorts; or use it as a beach cover up with a straw hat! Maybe you see a ruffled red hoodie from Christmas…BUY it, cut the sleeves and make it into a cropped soft ruffled top you can throw over a mini skirt and some fun colored sunglasses. Are you getting the idea here? It’s all about taking these last season pieces and adapting them to now with the help of trends and of course, lots of your personal style. I did some searching to see what was on sale at H&M online and found these pieces that (in my opinion) will totally work for summer. SIDE NOT: don’t be afraid of bigger sizes. I know that sounds weird but oversized pieces can be be super effective for layering during summer; plus you can always take a layer off it gets too hot. Check if these pieces are still available in your size but don’t be afraid of snagging up some higher sizes! That will make your styling so much more fun but if you need help you know where to find me.

Any of these sale pieces ready to be in your closet, or what! Before we say goodbye I wanted to point my secret to making this look come together. *drum roll* a circle skirt! You guys already know I am a huge fan of using/wearing pieces for far more than its intended purpose. That’s exactly what I did with this skirt because I haven’t worn it in far too long so I decided to experiment before retiring the skirt…do you want it or? HA! Love you guys <3

This outfit is gorgeous! H&M have so many fab pieces but sometimes it just takes a little creativity to put something together – especially something as lovely as this! The mules work perfectly with the top and skirt, and I like the mix of textures! <3
